Spartans defeather Eagles by one, declaw Bearcats by six
Stanwood’s Spartans (3-1 in league, 3-3 overall) survived a 17-point barrage that gave the visiting Arlington Eagles a 41-27 lead three minutes into the second half to eventually score a narrow 68-67 victory over their upriver basketball rivals last Tuesday night.
Then three days later, the local hoopsters held off the upstart Bearcats from Monroe 49-43. Full Story

Stanwood fifth grade AAU team clinched the championship game in the annual Turkey Shoot basketball tournament last month. Full Story
David Gerdes signs with TTU
David Gerdes, son of Gene and Anne Gerdes of Camano Island, and a senior with the Stanwood High School class of 2010, was selected to attend the Arizona Senior Fall Classic at the Mariners/Padres spring training complex in Peoria, Ariz. this past October 14 – 18, along with 1,100 other seniors from across the nation. Spartan swimmers overwhelm Seagulls
By winning every event but diving and finishing 1- 2-3 in six of them, the Stanwood Spartan boys’ swim team (1-1 in league, 4-1 overall) overwhelmed Everett’s Seagulls 133-46 in a Western Conference North Division meet last Tuesday afternoon. Full Story
