Knights out joust Spartan wrestlers

Senior 160-pounder Joe Eidsness was the only Spartan wrestler to produce a win on the mat Thursday evening against Kamiak.
Eidsness decisioned his opponent 8-4.
Stanwood’s 112-pound grappler Josh Tcheng received the benefit of a forfeit for six of the local club’s points in a 54-9 loss to the powerful Knights.
Meanwhile, the Sparts’ 135-pound representative, Jarred Studley, earned a sixth place in the prestigious Spud Walley Invitational after losing a tough 10-8 overtime battle to Enumclaw’s Andrew Fox. Studley’s performance was the only one to gain a medal at Sedro-Woolley, home of the Walley Classic.
The Sparts as a team scored 28½ points to take 17th place.
Other hometown grapplers who wrestled for the home team against Kamiak were Christian Pridgeon (103 pounds), Jacob Scott (119), Nick Kinsman (125), Nathaniel Zinkand (130), Jarred Studley (135), Wade Weinert (140), Travis Stone (145), Kyle Bennett (152), David Aufai (171), Michael Anderson (189), Dennis Nikolin (215) and Alex Hatley (285).
