Aaron Boehme, a foursport letter winner and graduate with the Stanwood High School class of 2006, led his Linfield College football team to the NCAA Division III semifinals this season with a stellar performance as their quarterback.
Linfield finished the 2009 grid season with a 12- 1 record, just one win short of playing for the national Division III championship in the annual Stagg Bowl. The Wildcats fell short of that goal with a 27-17 loss to second-ranked Wisconsin Whitewater last Saturday afternoon.
Boehme guided the underdog ‘Cats as they scored 17 unanswered points after falling behind 10-0. UWWhitewater rallied in the final period, however, to reclaim the lead and close out the victory.
The former Spartan completed 26 of 38 passes for 278 yards and one touchdown. He also ran for a team-high 73 yards, including a 67-yard scamper that set up a touchdown.
For the season, the 6- foot-5, 205-pound junior (by eligibility) completed 245 of 405 passes, with just 12 interceptions, for 3,261 yards and averaged 6.5 yards per carry on the ground (551 yards in 69 hefts).
Boehme missed the entire 2008 football season after sustaining a hard hit in the opening game of the campaign.
A solid student as well, he is a senior mathematics major who has a year of football eligibility remaining.
