LILLIAN MILDRED KLETT

Feb . 18, 1914 – Dec . 11, 2009

Lillian Mildred Klett, 95, a lifelong resident of Stanwood, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2009 at Josephine Sunset Home, Stanwood.

She was born in Cedarhome Feb. 18, 1914, the second daughter of Mannie and Ellen Wickstrom.

Lillian graduated from Lincoln High School in 1932 and attended business college in Seattle, returning to work at Yngve and Mansen’s grocery in East Stanwood.

On May 29, 1938, Lillian married Henry Klett.

They made their home in East Stanwood and owned and operated the Cedarhome store, later named Klett’s Market, in partnership with Henry’s brother Harold and his wife Esther. Later Lillian worked at the First National Bank of Stanwood.

After retirement, Lillian and Henry enjoyed traveling throughout the state and country. Her goal was to camp at every state park in Washington.

After Henry’s death in 1980, Lillian volunteered at the Stanwood Senior Center and the Stanwood Area Historical Society; she was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Stanwood and the Sons of Norway Fritjov Lodge.

Her great love and dedication was as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother (little Gramma).

All will truly miss her grandma cookies, cakes, jello, and her loving and wise words.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Henry R. (Dick) Klett and Ramona Klett of Camano Island, daughter Janet Mayer of Stanwood, six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Bill Snodgrass of Warm Beach and sisterin law Christine Wickstrom of Stanwood, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, brother Leroy Wickstrom and sisters Mariette Hessel and Edith Snodgrass.

Memorials may be made to the Stanwood Area Historical Society, the Stanwood Senior Center, Josephine Sunset Home or Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.

Memorial service will begin 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Stanwood.

Private Interment was held at the Cedarhome Cemetery, Stanwood.
