Homeowner associations

Homeowners have another option

Dear Editor:

A homeowners’ association is suing a member because the association has a rule against planting a flagpole in one’s lawn.

The fact that the pole flapped an American flag had no bearing on the issue.

Of this planting, I am reminded of when I was a sales agent and I lost a sale, which was subject to the client reading and accepting the association rules, regulations and bi-laws.

My “sold” expectation became “no sale” as my buyer kissed me off with: “No place will I live with these Gestapo rules.”

Apparently, the above pole setter does not realize a homeowners’ association can be dissolved when a majority of the membership votes to dissolve.

The fastest way to accomplish a dissolution is to simply circulate a proxy to dissolve, and the prime time to do this is when the homeowners’ annual assessment bill comes due, during the Christmas list shopping spree.
