Council approves 2010 budget
Councilwoman Shelley Klasse’s last acts with the council were voting against a cable TV utility tax increase and voting in the 2010 budget in Thursday’s meeting.

• A vehicle hit-and-run collision was reported in the 7300 block of 262nd Street NW Dec. 1 and another vehicle hit-and-run collision occurred Dec. 2 in the 10200 block of 270th Street NW. Full Story
At SHS, students learn about free trade, sustainability

Village Commons’ pipes break
The sprinkler pipes in Village Commons condominiums burst in Thursday afternoon’s cold.
For the second year, broken pipes on the fourth floor cascaded water down the side of the building and into the parking lot below.

Camano man pleads not guilty
Michael Worley of Camano Island pled not guilty in federal court to charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and engage in interstate transportation of stolen property and six counts of wire fraud for stealing and trafficking human insulin and diabetic supplies.
The arraignment took place Thursday at the Seattle Federal Courthouse. Full Story
Act now to get reseller permit
Time is running out for businesses to obtain a new permit they need to avoid paying sales taxes on wholesale purchases.
While the Department of Revenue has mailed nearly 180,000 permits to businesses since September, it estimates that as many as 20,000 additional businesses, mostly contractors, have not yet applied for a permit. Full Story
