Deadline approaches for design contest

North County Fire/EMS has announced the deadline for designs for the new junior firefighter patch has been extended to Dec. 22. Children in grades 1-5 who live in the North County service territory are eligible to enter. Kids are encouraged to design a patch that reflects what comes to their minds when they think of their fire and emergency medical service providers.

Kids can use any medium, but the design must fit inside the outline of the patch. Applications and contest rules are available on line at www.northcountyfireems. com or at any of the following fire stations:

• Kackman (Station 90), 3002 252nd St. NE, Arlington • Freeborn (Station 96), 3231 300th St. NW, Stanwood

• Warm Beach (Station 97), 19727 Marine Drive, Stanwood

Entries can be mailed to North County Fire/EMS, c/o Battalion Chief Christian Davis, 19727 Marine Drive, Stanwood, WA 98292.

Prizes will be awarded Jan. 15, 2010 to one child in each grade level.
