Faith, fact and feelings
Do you have any of these? I’m sure we all do, so what is faith? The NIV version of the Bible gives this in Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we cannot see.” We all hope for many things, but I suggest that the verse refers to things of which the Lord would approve. Deadline approaches for design contest
North County Fire/EMS has announced the deadline for designs for the new junior firefighter patch has been extended to Dec. 22. Children in grades 1-5 who live in the North County service territory are eligible to enter. Kids are encouraged to design a patch that reflects what comes to their minds when they think of their fire and emergency medical service providers. Full Story

Feeding the hungry
Stanwood-Camano School District Transportation employees filled two school buses, totaling 4,720 pounds of food with donations from the community for the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank. Full Story

Local firefighter deemed “most inspirational”
Ryan White, of Stanwood Camano Fire Department, was recently awarded “Most Inspirational” in a Seattle Medic One program.
White graduated from the 2009 Medic One program at Harborview Medical Center in August.
The program admits only 16 students at a time, and only through sponsorship by a regional emergency medical services (EMS) employer. Full Story

Christmas House open by appointment
The Christmas House is open by appointment this week, Dec. 14-18.
It provides free Christmas gifts for all low-income, foster, or specialneeds children, ages birth through 18, in the Stanwood, Camano and Lakewood areas.

SHS student hopes “Dirty Deeds” pays off

Beyond filling the requirements for his senior project, Stanwood High School student Grant Allison is hoping to direct some cash into the band program’s budget.
Allison, who plays alto sax in the pep and jazz bands, organized fellow students and staff to participate in the third annual School of Rock Battle of the Bands. Full Story
