A new chapter of the Camano Island Builders Association, CIBA, will have a dinner meeting and installation of officers Thurs, Dec. 17, 6 p.m. For details, call 360-757-6916. CIBA is a chapter of the Skagit/Island County Builders Association, which is associated with the Building Industry Association of Washington and the National Association of Home Builders.

CARE sets potluck, white elephant gifts

C.A.R.E.’s annual holiday potluck and white elephant gift exchange will be 3-7 p.m. Sun, Dec. 13. Call Carolyn Ehret, 387- 4842, for RSVP and directions. No regular meeting this month.

Yacht club cooks serve special omelets

Camano Island Yacht Club, 129 N. Sunset Dr., will hold its monthly brunch, Sun, Dec. 13, 9 a.m. to noon. This month’s special is omelets to order. Menu includes eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, fresh fruits, juices, pastries, coffee and tea. The Firstmates Bake Sale will be available at the same time.

Bazaar and bake sale at St. Aidan’s

Fire Jets set Christmas brunch

Terry’s Corner Fire Jets Christmas brunch starts 10 a.m. Mon, Dec. 14, at the fire station. Attendees are asked to bring new ornaments for exchange. The auxiliary board is hosting the event. For more information, call 387-8255.

Giving tree benefits children and adults

A community giving tree to benefit children and adults in the Camano/ Stanwood community is being offered by J.T. Buck & Co, in the Camano Plaza next to Mark’s Pharmacy. All you need do is pick out a gift tag(s), purchase an appropriate gift and place it, unwrapped w/tag, under the tree by Fri, Dec. 11. Gifts will be taken to the Stanwood/Camano Family Resource Center.

Glass/jewelry artist is club program

Camano Country Club Women’s Club will hold a meeting/program and luncheon Mon, Dec. 14, 10 a.m. Patty Pontikis, glass and jewelry artist, is presenting the program, and some of her wares will be available for purchase. Debbie Christopher will cater. Bridge (by reservation only) follows at 12:30 p.m.

Local authors in person at library

Two local authors, Heidi M. Thomas and Mary E. Trimble, will visit Camano Island Library Fri, Dec. 11 at 3 p.m.

Celebration benefits Christmas House

Women of the area are invited to a Christmas celebration to benefit Christmas House, Stanwood/Camano Food Bank, Tues., Dec. 15, 2 p.m. at Camaloch Clubhouse. RSVP by Dec. 14 to Jeannie Shaw, 387-7015.

Christmas house lights contest

The Lassies Golf Club will judge Christmas house lights in the four divisions of Camaloch Dec. 16. A winner in each division will be awarded a cash prize, and the money will be sent to the Stanwood/Camano Food Bank in each winner’s name.

Computer classes take off in January

Computer classes are back at the Camano Senior and Community Center starting in January: Introduction to computers, focus on Windows XP and Vista; overview of Microsoft Word 2007; overview of Microsoft Excel 2007; overview of Microsoft PowerPoint 2007; overview of Microsoft Outlook 2007; and introduction to digital cameras.
