On The Island

Keelia Agsunod and Howard Willard play actors having troubles with a set of Dracula teeth in Stanwood High’s production of the farce, “Laughing Stock.” The comedy gives audiences a backstage look at the hectic and hilarious chaos, which occurs in the process of putting on a play. The farce takes place at a New Hampshire summer stock theater attempting to perform three shows: “Hamlet,” “Charley’s Aunt” and “Dracula.” The problem with the repertory season is that the well-intended actors are understaffed, underfunded and ill equipped to deal with all the crazy problems that arise during their productions. It’s a wild ride watching the troupe gallantly attempt to keep the ship from sinking. “Laughing Stock” plays Nov. 13, 14, 20 and 21, 7 p.m., at Stanwood High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $8 for adults and $7 for students. Due to a few mature jokes, parental guidance is suggested.
