GRACE V. WILSON

March 29, 1931 - Nov. 9, 2009

Grace V. Wilson, 78, a longtime Mount Vernon resident, passed away Mon., Nov. 9, 2009, after an extended illness.

She was born March 29, 1931 in East Stanwood to Nels and Gertrude (Sinnes) Simonseth.

Grace attended Stanwood schools and graduated from Stanwood High School with the class of 1949.

At the age of 18, she married the love of her life, Calvin (Jim) Wilson with whom she had 58 wonderful years before his death in 2008.

They settled in Mount Vernon and raised two children, Howard and Marlene.

Grace spent many years working in retail and food service, retiring as head cook at Lincoln Elementary School in the Mount Vernon School District. Grace always enjoyed her time with family and friends, camping, golfing, playing cards and having a good time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her mother and father; her brother, Ed Simonseth and grandson, Sam Wilson.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Howard (and wife, Lori) Wilson, Marlene (and husband, Gene) Stone; granddaughter, Shelby (and husband, Dave) Janklow; brothers, Norm (and wife, Irene) Simonseth, John (and wife, Marie) Simonseth; sisters, Marie (and husband, Roy) Anderson, Esther (and husband, Clem) Ulrich, Agnes Brodland; as will as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Grace’s life was celebrated and a reception held Nov. 14, 2009 in Mount Vernon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Josephine Sunset Home, 9901 272nd Pl. NW, Stanwood, WA 98292 or to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home.
