Maybe they came for the food. Maybe it was the choir or jazz band. Probably it was just to be with their grandkids. In any case, Stanwood Middle School’s gym bustled with 500 grandparents and students last Friday afternoon.
The school’s leadership class collaborated with the cafeteria’s food service program to serve Thanksgiving lunch at the 11th annual Grandparent’s Luncheon. They set up, they ran food, coffee, and beverage and they tore down.
“The kids do a tremendous amount of work,” said Cindy Healy, vice principal.
And it paid off. After lunch, guests were graced with three selections from the choir, followed by three pieces by the jazz band. Then, they were invited to browse the school’s book fair with their students.
