Gilmore, Teague miss state tournament opportunity

By losing two of their three matches at the Northwest 4A District Tennis Tournament, local divisional champions Chris Gilmore and Teague Nelson were eliminated from further play in their quest for a state tourney berth last week.
The duo came back strongly in the consolation bracket after losing 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 to Kamiak High’s David Kim and Brian Ko in the first round.
The local low netters moved on in the consolation bracket when they defeated Johnny Mills and Sean Dau of Everett’s Cascade 6-3, 6- 1 later on Wednesday, the first day of the tournament.
In the consolation semifinals last Thursday, Gilmore and Teague were eliminated from the tourney after losing to Robin Choi and David Kim of Jackson 6-3, 6-1.
The top three singles and doubles players advanced to the boys’ state tennis tournament, which will be held next spring.
