Weinert takes 20th at district XC meet
The Sparts’ Wade Weinert grabbed 20th individually and the Stanwood High boys’ cross country team finished seventh among 4A schools in the area at last weekend’s District I Cross Country Championships held on South Whidbey High School’s 5,000- meter (3.1-mile) course. Full Story
Gilmore, Teague miss state tournament opportunity
By losing two of their three matches at the Northwest 4A District Tennis Tournament, local divisional champions Chris Gilmore and Teague Nelson were eliminated from further play in their quest for a state tourney berth last week.
The duo came back strongly in the consolation bracket after losing 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 to Kamiak High’s David Kim and Brian Ko in the first round. Full Story
