Public hearing regarding tax revenue
The Fire Commissioners of Island County Fire Dist. No. 1 (Camano Island Fire and Rescue) will hold a Nov. 9 public hearing to discuss the collection of authorized tax revenue sources for the 2010 expense budget. Lost Lake bazaar coming November 14

Holiday home tour includes five homes
Sat., Dec. 5, 1:30 to 5 p.m., the public is invited to tour five beautiful Island homes. Tickets will be for both the tour and the party following at Oddfellows Hall, 96 S. Camano Ridge Rd. Live music, live auction and hors d’eouvres. Sponsored by Camano Island Democrats, with proceeds funding scholarships for local students. Free brunch for lucky person at club
The Camano Island Yacht Club, 129 N. Sunset Dr., will hold its monthly brunch, Sun., Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to noon. This month’s special is a free brunch for every 10th person that comes through the door. Included in the cost of the meal are eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, fresh fruits, juices, pastries, coffee and tea.

F lames to host guest speaker Thursday
The Mabana Flames will host Sharon Szekley, as featured speaker, Thurs., Nov. 5, 10 a.m. at the Mabana Fire Station, 3651 S. Camano Dr. She will be talking about the American Hero. Following the presentation, a luncheon prepared by members, will be served. Knitters to learn about bead knitting
The North Sound Knitters’ Guild will have its monthly meeting Tues., Nov. 10 at St. Aidan’s Church, 6 to 9 p.m. All knitters are welcome, “whether you learned yesterday or have knitted for 40 years.” St. Aidan’s is located on Route 532 across from the Second Chance Thrift store on Camano Island. Christmas holiday house now open
With more than 65 vendors displaying their wares at Brindles Marketplace, the Christmas holiday house opened this week; hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week. Some of the produce includes winter veggies; there are jams, jellies, sauces; breads, cheese, fish, chocolates, honey, fruit snacks; books, childrens and adults; alpaca coats, sweaters and baby bears; and, a number of antique vendors. Work party at state parks, senior center
Friends of Camano Island Parks volunteers will be hosting a work party at Camano Island state parks and the Camano Senior and Community Center next week. Chili cook off and live art auction
The 14th annual chowder and chili cook off will be held Sat., Nov. 14, 3 to 7 p.m. at the Camano Senior and Community center on Arrowhead Rd. There will be a raffle of over 100 items, and numerous door prizes. A special live art auction is 1 to 3 p.m., with approximately 25 locals artists contributing to the event. Women’s club to hear about candles
The Camano Country Club Women’s Club will meet Nov. 9, 10 a.m. for their monthly meeting/program and luncheon. The program will be on the making of beeswax candles by the Sisters of the Convent of the Meeting of the Lord. They will be offering their candles and other handmade items for sale. Lunch will be catered by Debbie Christopher. Sign-up for luncheon is on bulletin board in clubhouse entry hall. Ladies bridge (by reservation only) will follow at 12:30 p.m.
Volunteer models needed for show
