Stanwood Dems endorse White, Hiatt Watson

Dear Editor:

The Stanwood Democrats have endorsed the following candidates and issues for the upcoming election:

• The Stanwood Democrats endorse Ellen Hiatt Watson for Snohomish County Council. Her opponent has received much of his monetary support from special interests, people who benefit financially from council decisions. Ellen has received her much smaller donations from grassroots individuals who share her vision for the county through protection of our rural environments and farmlands. We don’t want special interests to choose our representatives. Vote for Ellen.

• Mayor Dianne White is the Stanwood Democrats’ choice in this nonpartisan race. She has done more for Stanwood than any mayor. She works tirelessly, has accomplished much and has a sincere love for Stanwood. Mayor White deserves another term.

• Joe Wilson is our choice for Superior Court judge. Joe Wilson has exceptionally diversified experience and we feel he is the best qualified for the Superior Court position. We looked at the extensive amount of time and experience he has donated to indigent people and we appreciate his commitment to his community and his demonstrated commitment to equality and justice.

• Vote no on Initiative 1033. This initiative will cause long-term irreparable harm to our state. In this time of severe cutbacks, which have adversely impacted our senior citizens and students is not the time for another Eyman Initiative.

• Yes on Referendum 71. Uphold our state legislature and insure equality for all.
