Re-elect Bradley to fire commission

Dear Editor:

In this up coming election, the residents of the Camano Fire District will

be asked to fill a seat on the board of fire commissioners.

I have seen some rather intense campaigning for one of the candidates, but none so far for the incumbent commissioner, Gary Bradley.

I know Mr. Bradley from my attendance at commission meetings, personal conversations and his “fire side chats” with local supporters of the Fire

District.

I find him to be articulate and forthright about the functioning of the department and how the fire commission operates.

He has done an excellent job of fielding tough questions and gives the strong impression that the commission and the department are determined to achieve excellence.

Gary Bradley has 30 years experience with the Camano Fire District, as a volunteer firefighter, volunteer unit chief and 12 years on the board of

fire commissioners. He has served Camano Fire well and is enthusiastic to

continue doing so.

Mr. Bradley’s opponent is Don Timmerman. Mr. Timmerman is known to me only by reputation as a real estate broker, and one-third owner of the Camano Properties building at Terry’s Corners.

At the time of the 2008 sale of this property to the fire district, Island County properties were selling for less than the assessed value. This property was sold to the fire district for over its assessed value. Now he is running for a seat on the commission.

I see nothing in his campaign material indicating experience in recognizing, understanding or solving the unique circumstances encountered in administering to a growing fire department.

I encourage every one before voting to consider experience, deep knowledge of the Fire District, enthusiasm, and dedication for the betterment of the Camano Island Fire District.

Reelect Gary Bradley. Carl Hamlin Camano Island
