Snow Goose festival committee seeks poster art
The 2010 Port Susan Snow Goose & Birding Festival committee is looking for local artists to participate in the fifth annual Port Susan Snow Goose & Birding Festival poster contest.
Artists are asked to submit their bird-themed artwork from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Stanwood Chamber of Commerce office, 8725 271st St. NW, in downtown Stanwood
The jury is looking for art that will appeal to “birders.”
The selected artwork will remain the property of the artist with the artist’s permission for the festival committee to reproduce the artwork for promotional purposes, including posting on the Snowgoosefest.org Web site.
Submissions must be recent and original work, not based on any copyrighted material, depict a bird found in the Stanwood, Camano Island area, and be composed in a vertical format.
The artwork should be framed for display, with a hanging wire on the back. Three-dimensional artwork will be considered, but needs to be photographed and framed for display, including a hanging wire on the back.
Please place a label on the back with your name the title of the artwork, a selling price if the work is for sale, and contact information.
The art will remain on display at the Stanwood Chamber Office until Jan. 6, 2010.
The public is invited to stop in, view the art, and give input for a “people’s choice” award.
The winning artist will receive a main floor booth space, at “Bird Central,” the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center, during the Snow Goose and Birding Festival, scheduled for Feb. 20 and 21, 2010.
