Joshua Brown and Aubree Younce, both third graders at Elger Bay Elementary, recently participated with other classmates in a fun run sponsored by the school’s parent/teacher organization that raised more than $7,000. The winning class was Mrs. Hillier’s first grade class who raised $705. “I think some of the students ran faster after the fun run when they found out there was ice cream waiting for them,” said school secretary Leslie Whaley. In other Elger Bay Elementary news, Ms. Layton’s kindergarten class enjoyed learning about Camano Island Fire and Rescue. Students were excited to sit in a fire truck, while meeting firefighters and EMT’s. And first grade classes held apple harvest parties and enjoyed homemade apple pie, apple tarts and apple crisp recently.
