Kristoferson Farm proposes environmental canopy tour
Kristoferson Farm has applied to Island County to create an environmental canopy tour on its forest property on Camano Island.
Canopy Tours Northwest, LLC would offer visitors the opportunity to learn about the ecology of Camano Island, while touring the Kristoferson forest from an elevated zip line. Canopy tours have proven to be a popular and safe form of eco tourism that has gained popularity in Alaska and Canada. If approved, Canopy Tours Northwest would be the first such environmental tour in the state of Washington.
“We are excited about the tour as it will help us highlight sustainable farming practices and responsible forest stewardship”, said Kris Kristoferson.
Kristoferson Farm has embarked upon a number of efforts to enhance and preserve the Kristoferson Creek watershed through sustainable forestry and farming practices, recently planting 4,000 trees and shrubs along Kristoferson Creek.
Kristoferson Farm grows timber and organic hay on its 231 acres and has been operated by the Kristoferson family since 1912.
