Stanwood ties with Lake Stevens' Vikings
Stanwood's male cross country contingent scored 32 points, thereby tying with fellow WesCo powerhouse Lake Stevens during last week's quadruple meet with the Vikings, Edmonds-Woodway (67 points) and Monroe (83). Snohomish's Panthers pulled off a rare feat last week as they swept the Stanwood Spartans' doubles teams - something that hasn't been done all season long - in the process of handing the locals a 5-2 Western Conference 4A North tennis loss. Full Story
Spartans stealth tames Wildcats from Whidbey
Like the proverbial thief in the night, the Stanwood Spartans (2-2 in league, 2-4 overall) fleeced their hosts. But rather than flee the scene immediately, they chose to celebrate their successful pilferage before slipping away to their robbers' roost on the mainland far away. Full Story

New record set on local cross-country course
Junior Minna Fields established a new course record for the recently established Stanwood crosscountry course with an 18:58 clocking. She paced the local girls' winning effort (23 team points) in a quadruple meet with Lake Stevens (52), Edmonds- Woodway (80) and Monroe (86). Full Story
Fishing for coho continues south of Everett Naval Station
Most know, a majority of our local saltwater in areas 8.1 and 8.2 are closed until the Nov. 1 opening for blackmouth. But, from Everett Naval Station south remains open for coho, where trolling with flasher squid or Bucktail fly combos has been working well. Full Story

Toni Fenley is a graduate of the Milan Institute where she studied European skin care and now she is offering her services at the Stanwood/Camano Wellness Center, 9522 271st Street NW.
