US Navy (Ret) LCDR James Albrecht Vyskocil, 88, of Burlington, passed away Oct. 2, 2009. Known to many as "Mr. V," James, was a 33- year Navy veteran and survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Mr. Vyskocil fought in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, enduring five sea battles and three aircraft crashes. Full Story

Doris E. Peterson, 80, of East Stanwood, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2009. Doris was born Aug. 15, 1929 to Jack and Myrtle Sill. She was a lifetime resident of Stanwood. Doris was a member of the American Legion for 57 years. Full Story

Ronald Paul Frey passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Oct. 4, 2009. He is now home with his Heavenly Father. Love defined his life as a husband, father, son, brother and friend. Ron was born on Sept. 12, 1932 in Meadow Grove, Nebraska, to Lester and Ophie Frey. The family moved to Bellevue, Wash. in 1936. Full Story

Merrill John Blakley, 87, was born Jan. 11, 1922 in Turtle Creek, Penn., and passed away peacefully Sept. 25, 2009 on Camano Island. He died at Camano View Adult Care Home with his daughters by his side. He has now joined his loving wife, brothers, and all the family that preceded him. Full Story

John T. Carl, of La Quinta Calif., passed away on Sept. 17, 2009 at home surrounded by family. He was a resident of Stanwood for 12 years before moving to the California desert in June 2008. John was born Feb. 5, 1940 in Aurora, Illinois. He attended West Aurora High School and in 1958 began service to his country as a United States Marine Corps aviator. Full Story
