Burglaries and attempted break-ins
Island County Sheriff's deputies on Camano Isl and responded to the following recently:
• A string of actual and attempted burglaries at homes on Driftwood Lane continued. A big screen television worth $2,800, a laptop worth $800 and a $30 pillow were stolen from a residence Sept. 24. That same day, another residence had a hard drive, RAM memory and processor removed from a Dell computer. On Sept. 25, a woman reported that someone stole two nightgowns from her home, and jewelry was stolen from another residence. Three homes had missing screens, and another home had a broken window with an estimated damage of $250 Sept. 25. One home was found with a sliding door open, but nothing missing, Sept. 28. The previous weekend, there were two reported burglaries at homes on the lane.
• A three-car collision on northbound N. East Camano Drive sent five teens to the hospital with complaints of neck and back pain Sept. 28. A 2008 Mazda rear-ended a 1993 Honda, which then hit a 1989 Toyota. The 16-yearold female driver of the Mazda was cited for following too closely.
• A burglary in progress was reported in the 5100 block of South Camano Drive Sept. 11. A 50-inch television worth $4,000 to $5,000 was stolen.
• A resident of Bretland Road reported a text scam on a cell phone Sept. 28. The message, which claimed to be from Bank of America, requested that the victim call a 877 number about recent account activity. However, she did not have an account with that bank.
• A 20-year-old man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after his vehicle rolled past a stop sign on Camano Hill Road Sept. 21. A 20-yearold female passenger was also arrested after marijuana and Vicodyn was found in her purse. There was also marijuana hidden behind the car stereo.
• A 52-year-old woman was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) on East Camano Drive Sept. 27.
• A 54-year-old man was arrested for DUI on Camano Ridge Road Sept. 26.
