Deputy leaves young woman on dark road at night
Dear Editor: On the evening of Sept. 11, my granddaughter was coming to our house at Utsalady Cove condos to visit us from Ohio at 11:30 p.m. She was stopped by a deputy for not having lights on her license plate. He asked for her driver's license and found it to be suspended. Full Story
Harvest Jubilee took a village
Dear Editor: Our recent Harvest Jubilee was a great success thanks to the tremendous energy and creativity of so many wonderful volunteers. Lots of people found their way to the farms and discovered the hospitality of our fair town. Full Story
Totalitarian government has taken over U.S.
Dear Editor: An invasive form of totalitarian group-think has been successfully applied to our institutions and the result has been a destruction of individualism. In past generations it was individual effort and willingness to learn certain basics that led to personal successes. Full Story
President Obama double talks on health care
Dear Editor: In response to my letter regarding health care reform, Mr. Paup questions the statement that our tax dollars will be used to provide illegal aliens with health insurance. The president, on Aug. 8, stated, "Reform is obviously essential for the 46 million Americans who don't have health insurance. Full Story
Proud to live, raise family in Stanwood
Dear Editor: As a farmer who has participated in the Harvest Jubilee farm tour since it began, want to thank the community for supporting local agriculture and coming out to the farms. Senior plans talent show for food bank
Dear Editor: I am a senior at Stanwood High School and for my senior project I have chosen to collect food for the Stanwood/ Camano Food Bank by hosting a Stanwood/Camano Community Talent Show and Food Drive.
