What was killed to build your island house?
Dear Editor: Regarding the cry-baby letter from Tim McGlinchy, concerning highway safety and the missing cattail plants, if he had his way we would still be walking animal trails from Stanwood to I-5. Give me a break! Full Story
Thanks for buying lemonade
Dear Editor: My sister Samantha and I would like to thank the Stanwood and Camano communities for supporting our fifth annual Lemonade for Breast Cancer stand on Sept. 5. So far we have raised more than $800 for American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Full Story
Thanks for support of 'Back to School' project
Dear Editor: The Island County Readiness to Learn Foundation thanks all who contributed to this year's Back to School Project in the Stanwood-Camano School District. Due to so many donations, we were once again able to provide 200 local students with school supplies. Full Story
New leadership on SnoCo Council

Elliptical machines over math books?
Dear Editor: When I see state-of-theart elliptical gym equipment at school, I get a little disturbed with the fact that the students have no math books. Don't get me wrong. I know physical activity is important. But they can get all the physical activity they need without such high-priced equipment. Full Story

Congress does not constitutionally have the authority for any of these power grabs. Of course, knowledgeable Americans are aware that this is not about healthcare or health insurance. Full Story
President's citizenship a mute issue
Dear Editor: Thank you for printing Mr. Coatney's letter. It reminds me what a great country we live in — A country where we have a first amendment (freedom of press and expression) and newspaper editors who are safe and willing to print anything, including letters from the uninformed and lunatic fringe.
