Stanwood's boys' cross country team edged out Snohomish in a tri-meet with Shorewood on Thursday then placed four runners in the South Whidbey Invitational meet despite being unable to field a full team last Saturday. Rita Brennan's girls' swim team (1-0 overall) opened the 2009 season with a solid 99-71 victory over Edmonds-Woodway in a Western Conference 4A non-league meet last Friday afternoon.
