Show, tell family values
Exactly what Show and Tell Family Projects is remains a bit of a mystery. For creators and artistic directors Rich and Lydia Crouch, of Camano Island, it's a work in progress. The couple recently started the organization to support the creation and performance of family-appropriate entertainment. Currently, they are working on getting a nonprofit status. Full Story
Fatal wreck may result in charges for local woman
A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Teanaway Road and State Route 970, about seven miles east of Cle Elum, has left one woman dead and a local woman facing charges. Carol L. Full Story
DUI campaign nails motorists
The results are in from the recent Drive Hammered, Get Nailed enforcement campaign conducted Aug. 14 through Sept. 7. In Snohomish County, 339 motorists were stopped and arrested for driving under the influence (DUI), and statewide, law enforcement officers arrested 2,818. Full Story

Knitting club practices 'organized fidgeting'
The steady "click click" of metal knitting needles marks the progress of a project. The hands of one of the North Sound Knitters could be creating anything from elaborate lace to a cuddly teddy bear. The versatility of the craft is something the North Sound Knitters, a club based in the Stanwood-Camano area, celebrates and encourages. Full Story

Former Arlington principal admits guilt
In last week's followup article about former Highland Christian School principal, Mark Brown, pleading guilty to kidnapping a 14-year-old student that involved a series of incidents in July 2008, it was not clearly stated that the principal was no longer employed at the school. Full Story
A stopgap solution for local pheasant hunting has finally been determined, just in time for the start of the season. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will release pheasants on the Samish Unit from Sept. 25 to Nov. 7. Pheasant hunting will occur on Leque Island between Stanwood and Camano Island Nov. 8 to Nov. 30. Full Story
DNR seeks input on use of state lands
Recreational users of forests and shorelines should be aware of six meetings state wide to discuss recommendations for sustaining recreation on lands managed by the Washington state Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
