Crab catch cards due Sept. 21
Pink salmon are everywhere in areas 8.1 and 8.2: in the water, above the water, Kayak Point, the Head, at state park, Utsalady Bay, Elger Bay and off the shores of East Camano. If there is water, there seems to be humpies.
Spoons, squid jigs and Buzz Bombs are still very effective. Pink is still the top producer but a splash of white, chartreuse or green will get your limit.
A few coho have been reported, but it's difficult to get through the pinks.
We've heard reports of a six or eight pound silver hooked on a no. 6 Clouser Minnow. The season closes Sept. 30.
Despite the wind and rain, anglers still managed to enjoy the last of the crabbing season. Avoid a $10 fine by filing your catch cards by Sept. 21.
Other fishing areas: • The Skagit River has had clarity issues over the past week, but folks have still managed to do extremely well. Dick Nites, Wicked Willies, Wobblers, Vibrax and Spin-n-Glo sand shrimp are the overwhelming favorites. Coho are being taken but catch numbers are low. Time will improve the coho run.•
The Samish River is producing chinook for anglers using eggs, yarn or Jigs. High tides are the best time to fish.
• The Stilly is packed with anglers. People are easily catching their limits and staying to fish just for fun. Most everyone is hooking into humpies but we have seen a few nice bright cohos. Use Dick Nite's (50/50, Green/Pearl, Pink or Chart/ Silver) Humpy Specials, jigs with pink skirts, white worms or green marabou are excellent choices.
• The Snohomish has been putting out a great number of humpies, too. The usual gear will get your limit. Getting your boat in and out of the water and finding room to fish will take more time than catching your limit.
