Teachers should honor contracts

Dear Editor:

Many years ago, I enlisted in the United States Navy.

When I did, I was required to sign an agreement (contract) with the United States government. Subsequently, I have signed six other such contracts.

Many times during those enlistments, I was very frustrated, angry or discouraged.

Not once did I consider breaking my contract. I consider my word to be my bond.

If I sign a contract of any sort, I have given my word that I will fulfill that obligation.

Today our teachers are once again ignoring a contract and trying to change that contract through intimidation and threats.

Who is going to suffer due to these threats? Our children and our grandchildren. Those teachers who refuse to go back to the classroom should be fired immediately.

I expect many school teachers who are presently unemployed would be more than willing to replace the unwilling or uninterested.

Who pays our teachers? The parents of the children who are not being educated.

Please teachers, go back to your classrooms and complete your commitment.
