Hiatt Watson for council

Dear Editor:

We support Ellen Hiatt Watson for Snohomish County Council, Position 1, for her commitment to maintain our rural quality of life while promoting a more balanced growth and economic development policy.

The recent veto of the majority council position to limit fully contained communities (FCCs) accentuates the need to bring Ellen to the council.

FCCs bring significant congestion to rural roads and the county collects insufficient funds for road improvements, utilities and schools.

The public is left holding the bill with new taxes to subsidize the development.

Ellen led the fight against the proposed FCC in Warm Beach and would bring a quality-of-life commitment to the county council.

The incumbent, John Koster, is only too eager to subsidize FCCs, ignoring their adverse impact.

Quite frankly, Koster's representation has been a disservice to the needs of the average citizen in Snohomish County and needs to be replaced.

Ellen Hiatt Watson is the right person to be our council representative.
