The Camaloch Ladies Golf Club is holding its annual Cancer Care Rally Tues., Sept. 22, at Camaloch Golf Course. The day begins with a 7:30 a.m. obstacle putting green competition, followed by a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Field day events are planned, such as longest drives, closest to the pin and closest to the line. A luncheon follows play. Raffle baskets and prizes will be awarded at the luncheon. All donations will benefit the Skagit Valley Regional Cancer Care Center.

Republican women discuss candidates

The Camano Island Women's Republican Club (CIWRC) will meet at 12 noon (pizza and salad served) Tues., Sept. 22 at the Lost Lake Community Center, 1469 West Lake Dr. Republicans running for office (local, state and national) will be discussed. CIWRC welcomes new members and visitors from the Camano/ Stanwood area.

Gardeners to tour dahlia farm

Camano Garden Club will visit Skagit Heights Dahlia Farm Thurs., Sept. 17; meet at the Camano Commons Park & Ride at 9:30 a.m. to carpool. Fall story time until October 30

Saving money with salvage, reuse

Learn how salvage, reuse and green demolition can divert dollars and reusable materials from needless disposal, when Jason Darling, education and marketing coordinator for the RE Store, shares information Wed., Sept. 23, 7 p.m. at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive (blue building). RE Store, a non-profit organization, has specialized in building salvage, resale, and education since 1993. Homeowners, builders, handyfolk and do-it-yourselfers, real estate agents, and government agency workers are all encouraged to attend. "Western Night" is the Camano Country Club special event Sat, Sept. 26, with music by Kathy Van Luden. B.Y.O.B. 5:30 p.m., dinner, 6:30 p.m.

Country club pancake breakfast

The Camano Country Club will hold its pancake breakfast Sun., Sept. 20, when eggs will be cooked fresh to the individual's order, and pancakes served all-you-can-eat. Public welcome, served 9 a.m. to noon. Breakfast includes coffee and orange juice with pancakes, eggs, ham or sausage, corned beef hash, biscuit and eggs; all with live music.

Islanders potluck ends the year

The final Islander potluck will be Mon., Sept. 21, 7 p.m., at the Lost Lake Clubhouse. For more information, call Billy or Carol Davis, 387-8278.

Exercise class extends to Thursdays

Dance aerobics are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:15 a.m. at Camano Country Club Clubhouse, for an hour of low impact aerobic workout with easy to follow routines, followed by strength work. Bring your weights and mat beginning Tues., Sept. 22. All levels welcome. Sit N' Get Fit - 10:20 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday - 55 minutes of a mix of cardio and strength makes this class a total body workout. Exercises will be preformed in and out of a chair. Bring ankle weights. All levels welcome. Water Exercise - 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday - 45 minutes. Water is the gentlest way to strengthen your body. Community harvest dance open to all

Camano Junction starts the dance season with a community harvest dance at Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Rd., Camano Island, Sat., Sept. 19, 7 to 10 p.m. Admission at the door, open to the public, all ages welcome.

V endors wanted for Christmas House

"Christmas House" is to open on Camano Nov. 1, with prime indoor space for 50 or more vendors, all under one roof. Reservations are being taken now, and applications for vendors wanting to join. Deadline for all vendors set up and space availability is Oct. 15, opening set for Oct. 17. Informal discussion set by Baha'is

Sat., Sept. 19, 7:30 p.m. the Baha'i Faith of Camano Island will hold an informal discussion about Baha'i teachings. T ime for 'dancin' at the grange again

Fri., Sept. 18, the third Friday of the month dance at the South Camano Grange (2227 S. CARE sets Thursday meeting

Camano Action for A Rural Environment will have its regular 7 p.m. meeting Thurs., Sept. 17, at the Terry's Corner Windemere office, corner of Sunrise and SR 532/East Camano Dr. Topics of discussion include the Camano Gateway rezone hearing Sept. 22, the new TR Camano gas station/convenience store application, among other land use issues, and next years "Taste of Camano" event. Dance lessons include Latin, swing

Learn to dance at the Camano Senior and Community Center— ballroom, Latin, and swing—Thurs. Oct. 8 for five weeks, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sampler class of ballroom, Latin, and swing dances. Vaudeville show coming to Camano

A live benefit show for the Camano Island free outdoor cinema, featuring "Avner, the Eccentric," with Payne Fifield and R. Chumleigh, will be presented Sat., Sept 19, 8:15 p.m., gates open 6 p.m. for pre-show and picnicking at Chumleighland, South Camano Island, corner of East Camano Drive and Dallman Rd.

Bible studies start this week

Mountain Top Ministries Ladies Bible Studies will be held in the Hansen home, 332 Melrose St; call 387-1229 for directions. Studies begin Wed., Sept. 16, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., weather permitting. All ladies welcome; there is no child care provided. Bring light finger food to share.

AARP safe driving class September 18

There will be an AARP Safe Driving Class Fri., Sept. 18 at Camano Senior and Community Center, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. At the completion of the eight-hour course, students are eligible for a state mandated reduction in car insurance premiums. Many insurance companies will give a discount to anyone taking the class, regardless of age. Fee is payable to the instructor.

End of summer swap meet/flea market

For the next two Sundays, Sept. 20 and 27, there will be an end of the summer swap meet and flea market at Terry's Corner in the Commons area. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; set-up time at 9, contact Sylvy, 360-572-4577 to find cost for a 10x10 space.

4th annual CASA Benefit Auction
