College grad completes 2,627-mile Pacific Crest trail this week
It had the fear factor to be intriguing. Nick Brown, 24, formerly of Camano Island, was looking for a challenge after graduating from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2007 where he earned a degree in theology. By the following spring, the daunting thought of hiking the 2,627-mile Pacific Crest trial from Mexico to Canada began to take shape. Full Story

SnoCo council kills FCC option
The Snohomish County Council overrode county Executive Aaron Reardon's veto last week and removed fully-contained communities from the county code. In a 4-1 vote, with Councilman John Koster as the lone dissenter, the council brought the debate on fully-contained communities to a close Tuesday. Full Story
Men shot at while trying to aid woman
A mysterious call led to a narrow escape for two local men Wednesday morning. A 25-year-old Camano Island man and a 24-year-old Stanwood man were shot at near Milltown around 1 a.m. The two men escaped injury but the red 1985 Isuzu pick-up truck they were driving in was struck by several bullets, according to investigators. Collision leaves four injured, driver trapped
North County Regional Fire Authority responded to a two-car head-on collision in the 1600 block of the Stanwood/Bryant Road earlier this month. The first unit on scene found a passenger car and pick-up truck off the road down an embankment. The driver was trapped in heavily damaged car and the pick-up truck also received moderate damage.
