Dagmar Isabelle Davis

Dagmar Isabelle Davis, the youngest of nine siblings, was born Christmas Day 1914 in Saguache, Colorado to Gustav and Ingred Johnson.

She passed from this life at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2009.

With her family, she moved to Monroe as a child where she attended school and worked in the farm fields.

Upon graduation, she trained as a nurse aid and gained employment at the Maynard Hospital in Seattle, where she met and married George Frank Davis on Oct. 1, 1939.

She returned to Monroe to live with her family while George served in the South Pacific.

At the close of World War II, they moved to West Seattle with their daughter Susan, their only child, and built their first home.

Dagmar worked in the accounting department of Sears until George retired and they moved to Camano Island in 1971 and built their retirement home.

Dagmar loved 'tole' painting and decorated many furnishings that adorned their home. Her artwork was cherished by many. She loved her flowerbeds and gardening.

She attended Camano Chapel from 1971 with her late husband until moving to the Warm Beach Retirement Center in 2006.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Blake, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband George in a private service at the Lutheran Cemetery on Camano Island. Gifts and remembrances may be sent to Camano Chapel in memory of the Davis family.
