Curves' members help kids succeed
Dear Editor: Thanks to the ladies at our local Curves exercise facility in Stanwood. During the month of August, its members graciously donated many assorted school supplies to help our youth begin the school year. We were then happy to be able to deliver the "goods" to several of our schools. Full Story

Dear Editor: In so many articles regarding criminal justice, I have noted the flippant remark "Do the crime, then you must do the time!" Well, that is exactly what the incarcerated are doing. Backpacks put smiles on kids and parents faces
Dear Editor: We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who helped and supported our first annual School Supply Giveaway. It was a huge success! We were able to provide backpacks and basic school supplies for more than 350 children in the Stanwood/ Camano area. Full Story

Dear Editor: Regarding the Health Care (HR 3200) issue, I suggest the following questions should be considered: • How can such an expensive program be considered in such a weak financial and employment situation? • How can adding 45 million uninsured people to our health care system not result in significant rationing of care? Lucky to have Chief Ganz
Dear Editor: I have been a resident of Camano Island for 15 years and a member of the Fire Sirens auxiliary of the fire department. After working closely with the last three fire chiefs, I found that Mike Ganz is the most dedicated fire official with whom I have ever worked. Full Story
Ted Kennedy was worldly, not Godly
Dear Editor: I'm sure that all would agree that Ted Kennedy was not God, but one would think so when hearing and seeing all the eulogies and accolades accorded him. It is without question that he did many good things to benefit humanity, but, like all of us, he did bad things, also. Full Story
Methodists' BBQ was fun and interesting

Concerned about Muslim training camps in U.S.
Dear Editor: Muslims have some spokesmen who talk about how peaceful and loving the Muslims are. Of course, there are good and bad in all nationalities. I love the Muslim people, but I do not condone the radical Muslims who put their own people in jeopardy as targets in their strategic areas. Full Story
No plaque yet
In a letter published in last week's NEWS, Noel Freedman thanked Mayor Dianne White and Stanwood City Council members for installing a plaque at the Heritage Park horseshoe pits in honor of the late Arnold Lunnum, who tirelessly led the effort to get the pits. Full Story
