Penewell featured by Roaming Artists
Marysville artist Joan Penewell is the featured artist at this year's Roaming Artists Art Show at the Camano Center this weekend. Penewell has painted watercolors with the Roaming Artists for eight years. The Roaming Artists is a 35-member group of "pleinair" painters who spend the summer painting around Camano Island, Stanwood and adjacent towns. Full Story

CIFR pulls fire levy from Nov. ballot
Camano Island Fire and Rescue decided to pull the fire levy lid increase from the general election. The fire district had initially submitted both the emergency medical services (EMS) levy renewal and the fire levy lid lift for the general election prior to the primary election results, said Levon Yengoyan, Camano Island Fire and Rescue assistant chief.
