Learn about concussions in youth sports

Stanwood High School's athletic department presents Dr. Stan Herring, medical director of The Spine Center at Harborview Medical Center, in the performing arts center at Stanwood High School, 6:30 p.m. Wed., Aug. 26.

Dr. Herring will speak about concussions in youth sports and the recently enacted Lystedt law. This presentation is open to all youth, middle school, and high school coaches and parents. Health care providers, game officials and school administrators are encouraged to attend.

The author of the Lystedt law, Herring will speak on its intent and practice in youth sports.

Attendees will learn about the recognition and management of sports concussions with a follow-up question/answer session.

"Please join us for an informative evening on a very important topic regarding our youth," said SHS athletic trainer Matt Brennan.
