Fish more active after precipitation

Fishing in area 8.1 and 8.2 has been decent, though success has been spotty.

With recent rains the fish have become more active and this has improved the catch rate. The state park has provided six-pound and larger cohos, pinks up to six pounds, and a few chinook over 20 pounds, but remember that chinook may not be retained.

Bank anglers are using Buzz Bombs, in chrome or white, Krocodiles, Super Vibrax and small spoons with a pink highlight.

Elger Bay has been good for jiggers. Use pink buzz bombs with a small pink Hoochie below or heavier pink marabou jigs.

Trolling has been most successful from the state park north to Rocky Point. Anglers are using the traditional Humpy Flasher/ Squid Combo, UV Jelly Crush Flasher with Mother of Pearl Needlefish or Flasher with Pink or Green Coho Killers.

There have been a few reports of fish caught along the west side of Port Susan and Kayak Point, but the best is yet to come for these areas.

Many folks are making the trek over to Whidbey Island to bag their limit of pinks.
