ARNOLD RIBER MOEN

SEPT. 5, 1922 - AUG. 10, 2009

Arnold Riber, "the Big Norwegian" Moen, age 86, a longtime resident of Sedro- Woolley, passed away Aug. 10, 2009 at home.

He was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Trondheim, Norway, to Sefanius and Julia (Peterson) Moen.

During World War II, Arnold served in the Norwegian Navy. He was a highly decorated veteran who survived, twice, the wreckage/ sinking of his boat, while attempting to deliver food and supplies to the American Naval ships along the Atlantic coast from Norway to Denmark. His boat also delivered ammo and medical personnel to the American allies during and after the Normandy Coast invasion.

e is survived by his

wife Ruth, step-daughters Tere and Pattie, and one grandson, Jeffrey, His last remaining brother, Arne Moen, and Arne's wife Mary, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews who live in Norway.

Arnold leaves this world with an exceptional legacy: He was always a champion to the downtrodden. He never met a stranger he couldn't befriend.

A figure "larger than life," he is remembered as a devoted husband, loyal son, faithful brother, and a loving parent to his stepchildren and grandson.
