Let's build a community here
Dear Editor: The lack of a fireworks show by the city will easily be dismissed as a symptom of bad economic times, a lack of a better tax base within the city, or that there were better uses for the money. All of these excuses are acceptable to a degree, but it does not cut to the real problem here in Stanwood. Full Story
Bus gives mobility to many islanders
Dear Editor: This letter will likely not be published prior to people voting on the transit issue, but there are a couple of items in recent letters I felt I wanted to respond to. Penny Marquart in her letter published in the August 11 issue of the paper states that 80 percent of Island County residents do not ride the transit. Full Story
Car show was a terrific triumph
Dear Editor: The Collectors Car Show and Flea Market at the Camano Senior and Community Center was a great success! Good turnout, beautiful cars, food was delicious and the entertainment was terrific. The weather even cooperated, although it could have been a little warmer. Full Story
Democrats are better Christians than Republicans
Dear Editor: Does anyone else, besides me, notice that Democrats, in general, are better "Christians" than Republicans? Democrats care about people who don't have health insurance and Republicans are putting Hitler mustaches on pictures of President Obama. Pretty interesting. Full Story
Camano gallery offers art feast
Dear Editor: I am writing this letter as an act of kindness to my friends and neighbors. I just spent a delightful couple of hours at a new spot on Camano Island. It is easy to find, has beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces and welcomes all ages for the enjoyment of art and environment. Full Story
