At last, the Snohomish County Council has made a decision about fully-contained communities. In a three to two vote, the council eliminated fully contained communities, also called mini-cities, from the county code. Councilmen John Koster and Dave Gossett were the dissenting votes. Full Story

Though world renowned, glass school is sleeping giant in Stanwood's backyard
Pilchuck Glass School, started by glass artist Dale Chihuly in 1971, has an international reputation, and draws students and teachers from around the world. The school is isolated, in the woods on private property northeast of Stanwood. The teachers, staff and students live on campus for three-week sessions, said Sara Ball, Pilchuck Glass School spokeswoman. Full Story
City building scheduled to be torn down
Plans to demolish a city-owned house adjacent to city hall are moving forward. Andy Bullington, Public Works director, said the city planned to sell the structure as surplus on the condition that it was removed and the site cleaned up. However, that plan did not pan out. Full Story
Man charged with cyber stalking girl
Tyler Deccio, 18, of Selah, was charged by Snohomish County prosecutors with felony cyberstalking a 15-yearold Stanwood girl. For about a month this past spring, court documents allege that Deccio harassed and threatened the girl via text messages and internet postings. Full Story
