Supt. announces board elections
Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn will conduct an election in November for two positions on the state Board of Education, one from the eastern and one from the western regions.
The board has 16 members. Candidates must be residents of the region they wish to represent and, if elected, cannot be employed by any public or private educational institution or service district or the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Board members may not concurrently serve as a member of a district school board.
The State Board of Education helps develop programs that prepare students for the future.
More information about board service requirements is available through the State Board of Education Web site at www.sbe. wa.gov.
All declarations of candidacy and optional biographical data forms must be filed with the state superintendent's office in Olympia by 5 p.m., Aug. 30.
