Family benefited from CIFR EMS

Dear Editor:

My husband and I are writing in support of voting yes on the fire department levy.

As much as we do not want another tax increase, we feel that this is a very important levy to pass. We had an emergency in our family a few years ago and were very impressed with the quality of care given by the paramedics.

The paramedics with the fire department are well trained and have excellent equipment.

If we did not have this service and had to go to a hospital emergency room it could take close to an hour.

A few months ago my mother had to call 911 because my father had gone into a diabetic coma. The paramedic crew was there in five minutes and gave my father an injection that brought him out of the coma. They checked all his vitals and were in contact with the Providence Hospital emergency room doctor as they transported him there.

Our entire family was very grateful for the excellent care they gave, and the professional way they treated our father. They showed him dignity, respect and caring.

We do not want to lose any of these vital services.

We hope everyone will vote yes on August 18.
