Neighbor concerned ravine is in critical area

Coffee stand theft
Burglars were looking for more than a tall espresso during a break-in at Daily Dose coffee stand last Saturday night. Shawnda Sherwood, owner of the stand located near Bartell's Drug Store on 267th Street NW, said a worker noticed the building was broken into and notified police. Full Story
Crews from Penhall Company of Seattle will close SR 532 to rebuild the bridge deck at 84th Avenue this weekend, Aug. 14 - 17. The project is not part of the SR 532 corridor improvements, and will take roughly three weeks to complete, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. Full Story

Summer burn ban continues
Fire season is here and as temperatures rise, many counties and fire agencies have instituted burn bans. These bans can prohibit everything from burning yard waste to a campfire. A burn ban violation is punishable by a fine of up to $10,000. Full Story
Man uses vehicle in assault
Stanwood Police responded to the following calls last week: • On Aug. 4, a 27-yearold Camano Island man in the 26600 block of 72nd Avenue NW was booked into jail for second degree assault. His passenger, a 17-year old Camano Island male, is being referred for fourth degree assault. Full Story

Some new rules proposed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) could prohibit vessels from approaching any killer whale closer than 200 yards and forbid vessels from intercepting or parking in the path of a whale. Full Story
