Hot weather did not deter crowds to the fair and parade over the weekend.
Among the aroma of sugary elephant ears, cotton candy and fried foods, people of all ages admired animals, examined exhibits and enjoyed entertainment over the weekend at the 78th annual Stanwood-Camano Community Fair. CIFR levies at crossroad
With the Aug. 18 primary ballots, islanders will have the chance to decide the outcome of Camano Island Fire and Rescue's funding sources. The fire district has placed both a renewal of the expiring emergency management services (EMS) levy, and a raise in the fire levy on the ballot. Full Story
Nature Conservancy acquires 42 acres on Livingston Bay
Someday, the old dike that keeps wood from migrating from a pocket estuary in west Livingston Bay will be breached, allowing the built-up logs to enter the rest of the ecosystem. The Nature Conservancy, an international conservation organization, recently purchased about 42 acres on Livingston Bay. Full Story
