Double digit unemployment first in SnoCo
Unemployment in Snohomish County reached double digits in June for the first time since 1984. At 10.1 percent, a total of 38,850 residents did not have a job. In comparison, the state's average unemployment rate was almost a full percentage point lower, at 9.2 percent. Full Story
Fair season HEATS up

Though rain seems synonymous with fairs in the Pacific Northwest, the Silvana Fair takes pride in the fact it has never been rained on. Saturday was no exemption to that record, when temperatures soared into the high 80s during the 62nd annual event. All activities took place at the Viking Hall on Pioneer Highway in Silvana and on the adjacent fields. Every child who entered an exhibit or animal here got a ribbon at the free community fair. City recognized for wastewater treatment
