SR 532 construction begins
Motorists driving along SR 532 pass by orange construction cones as work on the corridor begins. Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) SR 532 corridor improvements started the construction phase last week.
Barriers and cones have been placed in preparation for adding turn lanes at several intersections and installing a truck climbing lane at three locations.
Dave Chesson, WSDOT spokesman, said drivers should be extra cautious when driving through construction zones.
"Crews continue work on the truck-climbing lane east of Stanwood," said Chesson. "You may notice crews working near the road during the day as they continue to clear vegetation and trees to make room for the new westbound truck climbing lane."
This work should not cause delays, but motorists should watch for minor congestion and trucks entering and exiting the work zone, he said.
People should also watch for crews working near the road during the day on Camano Island, said Chesson.
On Camano, through Fri., July 24, 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., construction crews will close one lane of SR 532 from 270th Street NW to the Davis Slough nightly for site preparation for upcoming work on the new bridge.
