Schmidt takes gold at decathalon championship
A senior to be at Stanwood High School, Kale Schmidt won a gold medal and is regional decathalon champion with a personal best total of 6,328 points. He qualified to compete in the national meet which will be held later this month in Greensboro, North Carolina, said Paul Johnson. Full Story

Large crab catches reported
Crabbing continues to be the focus in areas 8.1 and 8.2, where full pots are providing people their limits. The crab still remain on the larger size and are being caught at 70- to 90- foot depths with turkey legs, clams or salmon parts as the bait of choice. Full Story
