Abrams to coach Port Angeles

Former Stanwood High School (SHS) coach Richard "Dick" Abrams will coach the Port Angeles High School football team starting next school year. The Port Angeles School District has hired Abrams as the team's football coach and as a school psychologist, according to a May 26 press release.

Abrams coached the Spartans and taught physical education at SHS for seven years. The Spartans had an overall record of 36-32 during that time.

In 2004, Abrams won Coach of the Year, and the SHS football team won the district championship.

Abrams resigned from his coaching position at SHS in January, and recently resigned from his teaching position.
