Funds for tourism projects

Island County Commissioners will accept applications for the 2 percent hotel-motel tourism lodging tax July 15-Aug. 31. The program supports projects that attract visitors and encourage tourism expansion in Island County.

The county receives a share of taxes collected on hotel and motel room rentals. Funds are allocated to projects that provide a general benefit to the county as a whole and which are expected to result in an economic benefit and return on investment to the county.

Public or private entities with demonstrated ability to accomplish the proposed projects will be awarded funding.

An application package provides information and instructions about the process.

For more info., or an application package, phone 629-4522.
