Sno-Isle to request a levy lift
The Sno-Isle Libraries Board of Trustees decided to go for a compromise last Monday . ask for a 9-cent levy increase and make some cuts. Although the library projected deficit of $2.5 million in 2010 wasn't directly related to the current economy, the library system still had to take the economy into account, said Jacquelyn DeFazio, board vicepresident, of Camano Island. Bus routes to change with district cuts
Like other areas, transportation in the Stanwood-Camano School District will experience budget cuts next year. Stops within a one-mile radius of school will be discontinued for middle and high school students where there is a safe walking path of sidewalks and cross walks, said Gary Platt, district executive director of business and operations. New city land use designation is approved
Putting the final touches on the city's comprehensive plan amendments includes revamping "traditional" neighborhoods. Helping hand
Left high and dry, a starfish is given a helping hand back to the water. The minus tide, one of the lowest tides of the year, brought families and visitors out to Kayak Point County Park last Tuesday. Typically submerged parts of the shoreline, exposed by the retreating waters of Port Susan Bay, left tide pools full of sea life and shells that peaked the interest of adults and children alike.
